Ingredients You Can Understand and Depend On
Coconut Essentials is a response to a market oversight. It’s difficult for new parents to find baby products that are fragrance- and chemical-free while still being effective, especially skincare products.
Our brand limits its ingredient lists, focusing on organic, plant-based items. The hero ingredient across most of our product line is cold-pressed, unrefined, virgin coconut oil, though we use 100% fractionated coconut oil in our Moisturizing Baby Oil to maintain its liquid state.
Going Beyond Coconut Oil
Our simplified ingredient lists ensure two things: First, you recognize and understand the ingredients on the label, and second, the added oils contribute to the coconut oil’s efficacy. For example, sunflower and grapeseed oil are both high in linoleic acid, which helps bolster the skin barrier. We use these oils to complement and improve the effectiveness of our products, including Coconut Baby.
We are happy to discuss these ingredients with you and explain the difference between fractionated and unrefined coconut oils. Send us a message through the form above or contact us through one of the other listed methods.
Support for the Entire Family
Coconut Essentials began as a product for mothers and babies. Our flagship moisturizer and oil targeted everything from stretch marks to cradle cap. While we still maintain and promote the effectiveness of Coconut Baby, we’ve also branched out, developing a product line for the whole family, including pets.
Today, Coconut Essentials includes a lineup of skincare, cooking, and pet products. We know the benefits of this bountiful stone fruit, including its moisturizing, healing, and nourishing properties.
If you have any questions about how to use our products or how coconut oil may benefit cradle cap, dry skin, or cracked paws, please reach out through the form above. We take all questions seriously and work tirelessly to respond to every message.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the primary ingredients in Coconut Essentials’ products?
We started Coconut Essentials to offer organic, plant-based alternatives for the chemical-heavy, overly processed mom and baby moisturizers that fill store shelves. We primarily use unrefined coconut oil, but we will add other plant-based ingredients to improve product efficacy. Our focus is on labels that are simple and easy to read, ensuring you understand exactly what’s included in our products.
Why do you use fractionated coconut oil in the Moisturizing Baby Oil?
While most of our products use unrefined coconut oil, our Moisturizing Baby Oil is made with 100% fractionated coconut oil. This is organic coconut oil with minimal processing to remove specific fatty acids, allowing the product to remain a liquid, regardless of temperature. The fractionated oil also absorbs into the skin more easily and makes it easier to apply.
Are Coconut Essentials’ products safe for babies and people with sensitive skin?
Yes. Coconut Essentials was made to meet a need for skin-safe skincare for babies and new parents. We don’t use any artificial fragrances or chemicals that can cause reactions to sensitive skin. Still, before using any skincare product on your child, it’s best to test for reactions on a small patch of skin first. You can also consult your child’s physician.
Why do you add plant-based oils, such as sunflower and grapeseed oil?
We add plant-based ingredients to our coconut oil formulas to add healthy nutrients, support skin barriers, and address specific skin concerns, like cradle cap and eczema. For example, adding organic sunflower oil provides an excellent source of vitamin E for protecting and nourishing skin and hair, and grapeseed oil makes our formulas easy to apply and absorb.
What specific conditions can your products help with?
Our products have helped with common infant and family skin conditions, including eczema, dryness, and cradle cap. Our minimalist, chemical-free formulas help soothe these issues without risking irritation from synthetic fragrances or other mineral oils. Still, while we formulate our products to reduce irritation risks, it’s important to remember that everyone’s skin is unique. Do a spot check by rubbing a small amount of product on a patch of thinner skin, like the underside of your forearm, to check for reactions. Introduce new products to your or your baby’s skin one at a time, in case either of you has a reaction.
If you have a history of skin conditions or severe reactions, it would be a good idea to talk to your dermatologist first.
Does Coconut Essentials oil expire? How should I store it?
Organic, cold-pressed coconut oil has a relatively long shelf life when stored properly in a cool, dry place. That said, our formulas may include more than coconut oil, so we recommend using our products within 12 months to ensure freshness and efficacy.
